This video presents parts of a thyroidectomy performed by Katharina von Schenk, Head of Endocrine Surgery at Rheinland Klinikum in Dormagen, Germany. VIRON X in conjunction with the combined LUMOS light source enables localization of parathyroid glands via intrinsic near-infrared autofluorescence (NIR-AF). In addition, indocyanine green (ICG) is used to assess parathyroid perfusion and viability.
