In hepatic surgery, for example during a hemihepatectomy, the waterjet (ERBEJET 2) selectively differentiates between liver parenchyma, blood vessels and bile ducts. Soft parenchymal tissue is dissected, while the network of blood vessels is preserved and can be subsequently treated with little loss of blood. The operative time is reduced.
