Blood clot cryoextraction of a large central cast in piecemeal-technique using the 1.7mm probe

Blood clots in the airway are seen in a variety of underlying disease states. When airway patency cannot be restored using irrigation and suction, usually rigid endoscopy has to be conducted. Cryoextraction offers a method to remove blood clots in flexible intubated patients bedside to bring relief from the obstruction. Time savings result from the possibility to extract blood clots en-bloc. In large casts, cryoextraction can also speed up piecemeal extraction as compared to a bite-by-bite extraction with forceps.
In the present video, Dr. Hari Kishan Gonuguntla from Yashoda Hospitals demonstrates his approach to a large central cast using the flexible single-use 1.7mm cryoprobe together with the ERBECRYO® 2.
