EMR for lateral spreading tumors (LST) with HybridAPC margin ablation

In a piecemeal EMR, neoplastic tissue may remain at the edge or surface of the resection, which can be the cause of a local recurrence. Thermal ablation after EMR can reduce the recurrence rate by a factor of four.

Prior to ablation, the resection margins and the resection bed is elevated with a high-pressure
water jet using the HybridAPC probe and the ERBEJET® 2. The water cushion thus produced enables remnants to be ablated to a sufficient depth with higher energy input by means of the combined HybridAPC instrument.
Damage to the underlying layers with the risk of perforation is minimized.
