Bleeding management in myomectomy – the role of energy devices

Uterine fibroids are non-malignant tissue growths of the uterine muscle layer also known as myomas. They occur during childbearing years most frequently in various numbers, sizes and locations within the uterus. Symptoms occur variably from asymptomatic appearance to heavy symptoms e.g. heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain and infertility.

Different treatment options are applied, ranging from pharmacological treatment to organ-preserving myomectomy or eve hysterectomy. Defining the correct treatment for the individual patient represents a demanding task to the expert.

The Society of obstetrics and gynecology of Nigeria (SOGON) held a meeting on “Uterine fibroids – exploring all treatment options” via Zoom. For Erbe Dr. Niklas D. Froemmel, Clinical Application Specialist, contributed a lecture on the use of HF-current in myomectomy, focussing on bipolar technology. Watch the video to learn more about the specific application in laparoscopic gynecology.
